Recruitment underscores broader efforts to demystify wholesale markets.

Overview

  • Osaka City is accepting free applications Oct. 1–26 for a Nov. 11 market tour and B2B matchmaking at Osaka City Central Wholesale Market, with selection by lottery if oversubscribed.
  • The Osaka program runs 7:30–10:00 a.m. with a produce and seafood floor tour followed by 8:45 a.m. meetings with on-site intermediate wholesalers, allowing up to three people per application via the municipal online system.
  • Eligibility in Osaka targets businesses considering procurement of vegetables, fruit, or seafood, including restaurants, caterers, retailers, processors, and those preparing to open.
  • Nagoya City is recruiting families for the free Nov. 22 “Ichiba Experience Land” at the main market, offering two courses that cover market functions, a mock auction and chirimen study, or food safety with hands-on fruit tart making.
  • Nagoya’s family event is limited to 20 groups per course for residents with children in grades 3–6, with applications due by Oct. 31 by online form or return postcard and a lottery if necessary; a separate Nov. 9 North Market fair will feature tastings, mock auctions, and a tuna-cutting demo from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. rain or shine.
