Orlando Airport to Start $253 Million Gate Link Overhaul on Dec. 3, Reducing Tram Service to One Tram

The phased project upgrades vehicles plus core infrastructure to improve safety and reliability through fall 2027.

Overview

  • Only one tram will serve gates 70–129 on Airsides 2 and 4 during construction, leading to longer waits between the main terminal and those gates.
  • Overnight periods may shift passengers to shuttle buses when tram work requires full shutdowns.
  • Travelers using rental cars or rideshares are advised to add about 30 minutes for pickups and to follow MCO’s 3-2-1 timing guidance.
  • The program adds four Mitsubishi vehicles and rebuilds running surfaces, traction systems, power distribution, vehicle controls, communications networks, and platform screen doors.
  • GOAA positions the work as part of a broader 2025–2030 capital plan of roughly $5.9 billion, with extra guest ambassadors and wayfinding to assist during the project.
