Overview

  • Jordan Westburg went on the 10-day injured list retroactive to Aug. 19 with a right ankle sprain suffered Aug. 18 in Boston, and he had been hitting .276 with a team-high 15 home runs.
  • Brandon Young was placed on the 15-day injured list with a left hamstring strain sustained while covering first base, and imaging preceded an expectation he will be out for a while, according to interim manager Tony Mansolino.
  • The Orioles selected the contracts of infielder Vimael Machín and reliever Matt Bowman from Triple-A Norfolk to fill the open roster spots.
  • Catcher Gary Sánchez was transferred to the 60-day injured list to create 40-man roster space, the team announced.
  • Local coverage reported closer Félix Bautista was also moved to the 60-day IL after shoulder surgery earlier this week.
