Overview

  • A ribbon-cutting ceremony with Mayor Cindy Darling and third-generation owners John and Elena Duggan will kick off public service at 11 a.m. on Aug. 14.
  • The new restaurant takes over the former Stanford’s Restaurant & Bar at Broadway Plaza’s South Main Street entrance, a retail hub that draws about 6 million visitors annually.
  • The 9,000-to-10,000-square-foot venue will feature roughly 300 seats, two outdoor patios, a 50-seat cocktail lounge and a private dining room with its own bar.
  • True to its 1937 roots, Original Joe’s Walnut Creek will offer signature Italian-American dishes alongside an open kitchen with a 50-foot counter and a mesquite charcoal grill.
  • The Walnut Creek site is Original Joe’s first permanent East Bay location, extending a brand that has thrived in San Francisco’s North Beach and Daly City’s Westlake.
