Oracle, OpenAI Confirm $15 Billion ‘Lighthouse’ Data Center Campus in Port Washington

Permitting hurdles could still delay construction.

Overview

  • Vantage Data Centers said the Port Washington campus will host OpenAI and Oracle under the Stargate program, with four buildings and an investment of more than $15 billion that joins sites in Texas and New Mexico.
  • The project, named Lighthouse, is projected to create over 4,000 construction jobs and about 1,000 permanent positions.
  • Vantage said work will start soon with the campus potentially complete in 2028.
  • Power plans include a proposed $1.4 billion American Transmission Co. transmission line and a previously announced 4.5 gigawatts of additional capacity for the Stargate initiative.
  • Local steps ahead include a tax incremental district vote in November following an August approval of the development agreement, as regional opposition has recently led Microsoft to drop a separate Caledonia project.
