Oracle Health Adds OpenAI to Patient Portal and Launches AI Center of Excellence
General availability is planned for 2026.
Overview
- Oracle’s patient portal will use OpenAI frontier models to deliver conversational, plain‑language explanations of diagnoses, lab values and medical terminology.
- The tool answers context‑aware questions drawn from a patient’s own record, such as clarifying abbreviations or interpreting results like an eGFR value.
- Oracle says the system will not generate diagnoses or treatment recommendations, and OpenAI will not store personal medical data from the integration.
- Patients can draft secure messages to clinicians, prepare for visits and schedule follow‑up appointments directly within the portal.
- Oracle also introduced an AI Center of Excellence for Healthcare to provide secure cloud environments, implementation frameworks and compliance guidance including HIPAA-focused sessions.
