• Karan Singh Chautala lodged a formal complaint with Chandigarh Police on July 16 after his phone received a late-night WhatsApp call and voice message threatening Abhay Chautala.
• The caller hung up immediately upon connection at around 11 pm and later sent abusive voice notes warning that Chautala should “stay out of their way” or face severe consequences.
• The message invoked the February 2024 assassination of INLD state chief Nafe Singh Rathee, whose killers remain at large more than a year later.
• Abhay Chautala faced a similar threat in July 2023, prompting Haryana Police to register a case and grant him Y-category security cover.
• The INLD is pressing authorities to trace the foreign number and upgrade security for Chautala’s entire family to counter ongoing intimidation.
