Overview

  • A missing persons alert was issued Monday evening after the eight-year-old was last seen at a Quadeville grocery store and she was found around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday with severe injuries in nearby woods.
  • Ontario Provincial Police suspect an animal attack but say further forensic and DNA analysis is needed to determine the species and cause.
  • The girl was airlifted by Ornge to the Children’s Hospital in Ottawa and is now in stable condition in the intensive care unit.
  • Investigators from the Upper Ottawa Valley detachment are working with the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, forensic identification services and emergency response teams at the cordoned-off site.
  • Local parents are urged to keep small children indoors or under close supervision and the Brudenell, Lyndoch and Raglan Fire Department has withdrawn from this year’s Canada Day events out of respect for the community.
