Overview

• Police say thefts reported at four cemeteries since last week targeted brass and bronze fixtures, with an urn taken in one case.
• Bronze headstones were reported stolen from Bayview Cemetery in Port Rowan and Sacred Heart Cemetery in Langton.
• During a patrol at Waterford Greenwood Cemetery on Tuesday, an officer saw a person leave in a sedan and later found the vehicle unoccupied with alleged stolen items inside.
• Douglas Stevens, 39, of Oxford County was arrested on Thompson Road West in Waterford and charged with mischief, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and theft under $5,000.
• OPP call the thefts deeply concerning and are maintaining visible patrols while urging residents and visitors to report suspicious behaviour.
