Overview
- Central and state agencies carried out coordinated raids at 38 sites in Assam, Mizoram and Manipur on Friday, leading to 18 arrests.
- Authorities say the operation uncovered about ₹100 crore in hawala transfers, froze 1,424 bank accounts and attached properties valued at ₹17.82 crore.
- Searches also yielded 500 detonators and roughly ₹12 lakh in cash, and officials froze financial flows used to pay suppliers across the India–Myanmar border.
- The Enforcement Directorate led the action alongside the Narcotics Control Bureau and state police, building on ECIRs and FIRs from earlier seizures of heroin, methamphetamine and brown sugar.
- Officials present the crackdown as part of a broader push against the Golden Triangle trafficking corridor and say it advances a national plan to eliminate major drug networks by December 31, 2029.
