Overview

• The network comprised four associations that managed every phase of migrant crossings from Turkey to Italy.
• Italian authorities arrested 25 foreign nationals and indicted 43 others, accusing 68 individuals of involvement in the operation.
• Investigators reconstructed more than 30 landings between 2017 and 2022 that brought around 2,000 clandestine migrants to Calabria on overcrowded sailboats.
• Officials traced an estimated €10 million in smuggling revenues and seized approximately €3.3 million in linked assets.
• The operation was coordinated by the Dda of Reggio Calabria with support from Eurojust, Interpol, Europol and Italy’s Direzione Nazionale Antimafia.
