Operation Khanpi: Indian Forces Kill Four UKNA Cadres in Manipur Raid

The intelligence-led raid targeted a non-SoO Kuki outfit after recent attacks in Churachandpur.

Overview

  • Troops of the Indian Army and Assam Rifles launched the pre-dawn Operation Khanpi around 5:30–6:00 am in Khanpi village, Henglep, following credible inputs on UKNA presence.
  • Four suspected UKNA members were killed in a firefight after militants opened unprovoked fire on an Army column, according to Defence Ministry and Assam Rifles statements.
  • Officials said one suspect was arrested, firearms and ammunition were recovered, and searches in adjoining forested areas are continuing.
  • The joint action involved 36 Assam Rifles and 21 Para Special Forces, and authorities said several militants fled as the identities of the deceased were being verified.
  • Kuki civil organisations condemned the killings, announced a shutdown in Churachandpur, and urged restraint and political dialogue as security was tightened in the district.
