  • Fourth-seeded Avirat Chauhan was held to a draw by lower-rated Tanmay R in the Junior Under-13 section.
  • Top seeds FM Aansh Nerurkar, Madhesh Kumar and Advik Agarwal won their first-round Junior matches to advance smoothly.
  • The nine-round Swiss-system event kicked off on June 16 at Mumbai’s World Trade Centre and will continue across separate Grandmaster and Junior divisions.
  • Organized by the Indian Chess School under the All India Chess Federation, the tournament features elite and junior fields competing for ₹25 lakh and ₹15 lakh prize pools respectively.
