OpenAI Rolls Out 'Your Year with ChatGPT' Recap in US, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand

Eligible only for individual Free, Plus or Pro users with memories and chat history enabled, the recap also nudges a check of data‑training settings.

Overview

  • The year-in-review is available on ChatGPT for web, iOS and Android, and users can manually trigger it by asking for "Your Year with ChatGPT."
  • OpenAI describes the experience as lightweight, privacy-forward and user-controlled, and it will not auto-open or appear without a minimum activity threshold.
  • Team, Enterprise and Education accounts are not supported, and a gradual rollout means some eligible users may need to wait for access.
  • The recap generates a poem, highlights top themes, lists usage stats such as total chats, chattiest day and em-dash counts, and adds awards, an archetype and pixel-art imagery.
  • OpenAI’s support pages say Business, Enterprise and Education memories are not used for training, while Free, Plus and Pro users with "Improve the model for everyone" enabled may have chats used to train models; reviewers also show prompts to expand the recap into a fuller Wrapped.
