OpenAI Rolls Out GPT‑6 to ChatGPT With Visual, Interactive Intelligent UI

The update lets the assistant pick text, web images or generated visuals and interactive controls to show faster, more useful answers.

Overview

  • OpenAI began rolling out GPT-6 to paid ChatGPT accounts on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, with Free and Go users scheduled to gain access starting October 8.
  • The core new feature, called Intelligent UI, lets the model decide the best presentation for a reply and combine prose with images, buttons, charts or small interactive tools inside the chat.
  • In media demonstrations the model built on-the-fly interactive items such as a movable offside diagram and a shopping list that auto-adjusts quantities when the number of guests changes.
  • OpenAI says GPT-6 adds a “respond while thinking” behavior that starts replies sooner and that internal tests show GPT-6 Instant begins responding about 44% earlier than GPT-5.6 Instant for queries that use web search.
  • The rollout uses two GPT-6 variants—Sol for paid tiers and Luna for Free/Go—keeps the change confined to the Chat product, draws images from the open web when available, and does not let Intelligent UI outputs be exported as embeddable files.
