OpenAI Reverses Pro 200 Cut and Doubles Pro and Business Premium Work and Codex Limits

OpenAI said subscriber feedback prompted an immediate increase in paid-plan allowances while monthly prices stay the same.

Overview

  • The company announced on October 29 that it has cancelled a planned halving of the Pro 200 Work and Codex allowance and instead doubled Work and Codex limits for Pro 100, Pro 200, Pro 500 and Business Premium effective immediately.
  • OpenAI said the change responds to customer feedback and applies only to ChatGPT Work and Codex usage while ChatGPT Plus and the GPT-6 Pro weekly chat cap remain unchanged.
  • Dots, OpenAI’s always-on agents, will keep extended usage limits that are metered separately and do not draw from the doubled Work and Codex allowances.
  • OpenAI left subscription prices unchanged and did not publish exact numerical per-tier limits, so independent verification of the doubling requires users to experience the new allowances in practice.
  • The move protects heavy coding and team workloads, highlights Pro 500’s developer-focused Ultrafast Codex feature, and could lower churn for paying developers while keeping the door open for future limit changes.
