OpenAI Launches Toll-Free ChatGPT Phone Line and WhatsApp Integration

The new features allow users to interact with ChatGPT via phone calls in the U.S. and WhatsApp messaging globally, expanding accessibility to the AI chatbot.

OpenAI has introduced a toll-free phone number, 1-800-CHATGPT, allowing U.S. users to call and interact with ChatGPT for up to 15 minutes per month without requiring an account.
The service is also available globally through WhatsApp, enabling users to message ChatGPT in text format without needing to log in or create an account.
The WhatsApp version uses the GPT-4o mini model and currently supports text-only interactions, with future plans to include features like image analysis and web search capabilities.
These features aim to make ChatGPT more accessible to users without consistent internet access, including those using older phones or landlines.
OpenAI has stated that data from calls and WhatsApp messages will not be used for AI training, emphasizing user privacy.
