OpenAI Launches Instant Checkout in ChatGPT for U.S. Shoppers

  • U.S. users of ChatGPT Free, Plus and Pro can now complete single-item purchases in chat from U.S. Etsy sellers, with access to over one million Shopify merchants promised soon.
  • The feature is powered by the open-sourced Agentic Commerce Protocol developed with Stripe, which lets ChatGPT pass tokenized order and payment details to merchants that can accept or decline transactions.
  • OpenAI will collect a small fee from merchants on completed purchases, declined to disclose rates, and says user prices are unaffected.
