Overview

  • Six months after President Trump’s White House launch, Stargate has yet to finalize any joint data center deals and now plans only one Ohio facility by the end of 2025.
  • On July 22, OpenAI and Oracle announced a deal for an extra 4.5 GW of data center capacity, raising Stargate’s total under development past 5 GW toward its 10 GW commitment.
  • SoftBank is not financing the latest Oracle-OpenAI build-out, highlighting ongoing disputes over site selection and venture governance.
  • Independent of Stargate, OpenAI struck a $30 billion annual agreement with Oracle and separate deals with CoreWeave that nearly meet its original compute targets.
  • In a joint statement, OpenAI and SoftBank pledged urgent progress on multi-state site assessments and affirmed their longer-term commitment to the project.
