- Kariba gave birth to her calf, named Kaja, on May 27 at the Opel-Zoo in Kronberg im Taunus.
- Zoo officials will introduce three-week-old Kaja to the public at 11 am on June 12.
- Kaja is the first African elephant calf born in Hesse since 1968.
- The new arrival brings the zoo’s African elephant herd to six individuals.
- Earlier this year the Opel-Zoo also welcomed Sumatra tiger cubs, Bactrian camel calves and a giraffe named Kianga.
