OOAPAS Reports Year of Upgrades, Finishes Last 6.5 km of Morelia Acuaférico

The agency frames the year's upgrades as the launchpad for Plan Hídrico 2050 to secure long-term supply.

Overview

  • In his first annual report on September 23, director Adolfo Torres detailed 130 million pesos invested in works, including the La Mintzita substation modernization and reinforcement of a wastewater plant that frees 250 liters per second, with coordination under way with state and federal authorities for larger projects such as a new potabilization plant.
  • OOAPAS said it completed the final 6,500 meters of the acuaférico to improve citywide water distribution.
  • AI tools Sofi or Sofía and AquaBot are now handling user reports and running the call center, alongside 216,000-plus customer attentions and 87 new vehicles and equipment to modernize operations.
  • Preventive maintenance removed about 97,000 tonnes of waste from rivers, drains and channels to reduce flood risk and improve drainage performance.
  • Community and financing measures included more than 9,000 participants in the Guardianes del Agua program and a payment-in-advance option taken by 56,422 users that provides free home insurance with 35,000 to 50,000 pesos in coverage.
