Overview

  • Project Golden and Project Bionic, two OPP investigations, seized 43.5 kilograms of fentanyl along with methamphetamine and cocaine worth over $7 million and resulted in 15 arrests.
  • Peel Regional Police’s Project Pelican intercepted 479 kilograms of cocaine valued at about $47.9 million via US–Canada trucking routes, leading to nine arrests facing a combined 35 charges.
  • Key interceptions at the Ambassador and Blue Water bridges in Windsor and Sarnia between February and May 2025 were achieved through collaboration with the CBSA, the US Drug Enforcement Administration, US Homeland Security Investigations and the RCMP.
  • OPP Commissioner Thomas Carrique confirmed that none of the seized fentanyl was destined for export to the United States, underscoring concerns over domestic opioid distribution.
  • Intelligence reports indicate links between these trafficking networks and ISI-backed Khalistani extremists, suggesting that drug proceeds may have financed anti-India activities.
