• Ford’s office announced Monday that Sault Ste. Marie MPP Chris Scott is no longer a member of the Progressive Conservative caucus.
• Toronto police arrested 35-year-old Chris Van Scott, also known as Chris Scott, on Sunday following a Sault Ste. Marie Police Service investigation, which remains confidential to protect a victim’s privacy.
• Premier Doug Ford declined to explain the removal, told reporters to direct questions to Sault Ste. Marie police, and said he learned of the matter minutes earlier.
• Scott won his seat in February by a narrow margin and previously worked as a longtime Progressive Conservative staffer; his office did not immediately comment.
• Scott has been serving as parliamentary assistant to the minister of energy and mines since April 7, 2025.
