Overview

  • The 2.8-million-square-foot Peter Gilgan Mississauga Hospital will feature a 22-storey patient care tower with more than 350 beds and 23 operating rooms.
  • Facilities will include one of Ontario’s largest emergency departments and an expansive neonatal intensive care unit.
  • The $14-billion provincial investment is a key component of a broader $56-billion health infrastructure plan over the next decade.
  • The project builds on a $105-million donation from developer Peter Gilgan in 2022 and a separate $60-million gift to Toronto’s St. Joseph’s Health Centre.
  • Slated to open in 2033, the new hospital will be three times the size of the current Mississauga Hospital and serve Peel Region and beyond.
