- ONPE, which detailed the change Thursday, will publish vote totals on its website from 5:00 p.m., updating in real time as each precinct record (acta) is processed.
- At 126 computation centers, staff will scan actas, check image quality, and use an AI assistant to read the numbers that an operator also keys in, then count votes only when both readings match.
- In Lima and Callao, more than 29,000 tables will use the STAE kit of laptop, printer, and encrypted USB to fill and send actas from the polling place, while voting and the tally remain manual.
- Training of the 834,660 selected table members remains low at roughly 9–11%, with mass in‑person sessions scheduled for March 29 and April 5 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., plus virtual courses on ONPEduca.
- To bolster trust, ONPE opened a “Sala Multipropósito” through April 9 so parties and observers can review the counting systems and even see source code, as STAE expands from a 2022 pilot to wide use in Lima and Callao.
