Overview

  • Propstore has scheduled its Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction for September in Los Angeles, where the saber will be offered to the highest bidder.
  • The hilt is believed to be the only hero lightsaber prop from the original Star Wars trilogy ever made available at public auction.
  • On-screen provenance includes use by actor David Prowse and stunt double Bob Anderson during The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.
  • In August, the saber will embark on a three-city preview tour with public viewings in London, New York and Beverly Hills.
  • Built from a vintage British press camera flash handle, the prop was enhanced with plastic grips, calculator bubbles and cosmetic wiring to facilitate on-screen dueling.
