Overview
- OnePlus started pushing the stable ColorOS 17 update based on Android 17 to the OnePlus 15 and OnePlus Pad 4 on Friday, with open-beta participants and some retail units receiving the first over-the-air installs.
- ColorOS 17 brings redesigned animations, updated quick-settings panels, deeper home-screen customization, new privacy controls, and tighter background-process management to improve battery life.
- The rollout is staged and incremental so availability will vary by region, carrier, and model, and OnePlus plans a next wave that includes the OnePlus 13 on October 30.
- OnePlus says users can opt into ColorOS 17 and that rollback to OxygenOS is possible but has not specified which OxygenOS builds will be supported so backing up data is strongly advised because early stable builds and rollbacks can require a full data wipe.
- The update completes a planned shift from the OxygenOS brand to OPPO’s ColorOS as part of a BBK strategy to standardize software across OnePlus and sister brands with staged rollouts continuing into early 2027.
