  • About 15 percent of Germany’s 208,000 same-sex couples lived with children under 18, highlighting a notable demographic share.
  • Including adult offspring raises the count to 38,000 Rainbow Families with a total of 62,000 children.
  • The microcensus definition covers married and unmarried couples equally and counts biological, step-, adoptive and foster children.
