Overview

• The crash was reported shortly after 6:30 p.m. Friday on 490th Street about one-eighth of a mile north of 160th Avenue near Lakeview School in Yellow Medicine County.
• Responders found the Wood Lake fire truck on its side in the west ditch, and a 43-year-old occupant trapped beneath the vehicle died at the scene.
• The other two occupants, identified as 37-year-old Andrew Vanhecke and 6-year-old Beaux Vanhecke, were taken to Avera Marshall Hospital and then airlifted to Avera Sioux Falls.
• Authorities have not released the injured pair’s conditions, and officials have not publicly identified the person who died beyond age.
• The Minnesota State Patrol says early information shows the truck was headed north when it rolled, and it remains unclear whether the incident was connected to nearby homecoming festivities.
