• Officers responded around 10 a.m. Friday to the 1500 block of South John Street in Goldsboro.
• The pedestrians were a man and a woman using wheelchairs; 45-year-old Cheniko Pugh was pronounced dead at the scene and the man was taken to a hospital.
• Investigators determined the driver, a woman, was traveling north on John Street when the collision occurred.
• John Street was closed between Littleton Place and Shamrock Avenue for nearly 11 hours as investigators processed the scene.
• The investigation remains active, no charges have been announced, and the driver’s identity has not been released.
