Overview
- Massachusetts State Police said a multi-car crash near Exit 15 on the Southeast Expressway around 3:30 p.m. Thursday left one person dead and several injured.
- Boston fire and EMS closed two left lanes to treat victims and secure the scene, as aerial footage showed two black SUVs with heavy damage and an apparent fluid leak.
- A separate collision around 7:45 to 8 a.m. Friday on the Cambridge Street overpass sent a dump truck through a fence and about 40 feet down into a lot near the Mass Pike.
- Boston police said both drivers from the overpass crash were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, and MassDOT reported temporary closures of nearby exit lanes and Cambridge Street that later cleared.
- Authorities have not identified causes in either incident, with state police, Boston’s Accident Reconstruction Unit, and truck inspectors conducting active investigations.
