The Superintendent of IMH has issued an order terminating the services of diet contractor following the food poisoning at Institute of Mental Health (IMH) Hyderabad,

Overview

  • Patients at the Institute of Mental Health in Erragadda began showing nausea, vomiting and diarrhea on June 2 after consuming sweets during Formation Day celebrations
  • A 30-year-old patient, identified as Karan, was found unresponsive and later died at Osmania General Hospital despite resuscitation efforts
  • Telangana Health Minister C. Damodar Raja Narasimha ordered a formal inquiry and terminated the services of the hospital’s diet contractor
  • Borabanda police have registered a case of “suspicious death” and food and water samples have been sent to the Institute of Preventive Medicine for microbiological testing
  • Of the 92 affected patients, 18 have been shifted to OGH for closer monitoring while 74 remain stable under observation at IMH
