- She suffered a sudden myocardial infarction in Gorakhpur while in town to conduct a CME at Baba Raghav Das Medical College on September 19–20.
- Her body was flown first to Delhi and then to Mumbai, where it will remain until the family decides on funeral arrangements.
- Widely called the “Queen of Histopathology,” she was acclaimed for exacting diagnostic reports and for mentoring generations of pathologists.
- She retired as professor and head of surgical pathology at Tata Memorial Hospital in 2004, later led the SRL‑D Centre of Excellence, and established the Centre of Oncopathology at SL Raheja Hospital.
- After MBBS and MD training in Mumbai, she trained at the Royal Marsden in London and Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York, and broadened access to training through TMH’s Travelling School and online postgraduate classes during the pandemic.
