On World Pharmacist Day, Valencia Sets Oct. 16 Tribute and Emergency Protocol Reveal

The observance spotlights pharmacists’ accessibility through tangible advances such as Valencia’s digital verification that cut paperwork.

Overview

  • Valencia’s college (MICOF) will honor colleagues impacted by the Oct. 2024 DANA on Oct. 16 at San Miguel de los Reyes and present an emergency protocol for community pharmacies co-developed with Farmamundi and the regional Dirección General de Farmacia, alongside the documentary “Historias farmacéuticas de la Dana.”
  • In the Comunitat Valenciana, February’s switch from the cupón precinto to digital verification improved medicine traceability and cut paper use by about 90%, with MICOF citing time savings from eliminating 117.9 million annual coupons.
  • MICOF reports continued rollout and training for Servicios Profesionales Farmacéuticos Asistenciales, including AL DIA, RECORDA, REVISEM, DETECTA SUCRE and SENSE FUM, plus initiatives like the Cátedra DeCo and the Prevenim Ictus program.
