On Anniversary, Remains Found in Renewed Search for Lucinda Miller

Police say the death is not being treated as suspicious, with formal identification and forensic results pending.

Overview

  • The remains were located on October 16 during a targeted operation near Neerim South marking three years since her disappearance.
  • About 60 personnel joined the renewed effort this week, with assistance from the Neerim South CFA, SES, DEECA and the AFP.
  • Search teams expanded into bushland roughly two kilometres north of earlier sweeps around McDougal Road near the Whitelaw Track intersection.
  • Specialist dogs trained to detect electronic devices were deployed as investigators sought her phone.
  • Detectives asked walkers in the area to contact police and flagged interest in clothing and two vodka bottles linked to Miller.
