On 8th Anniversary, Colorado Investigators Renew Push in Maggie Long Homicide With $75,000 Reward

Detectives are channeling new public leads through a dedicated task force focused on multiple suspects in the 2017 killing.

Overview

  • The Park County Sheriff’s Office and Colorado Bureau of Investigation renewed a public appeal and are offering $75,000 for information leading to an arrest.
  • Maggie Long, 17, was found dead in her family’s Bailey home after a 2017 fire, which the coroner ruled a homicide following reports of intruders.
  • Investigators believe more than one person was involved, and say a Beretta handgun, an AK‑47‑style rifle, about 2,000 rounds of ammunition, a green safe and jade figurines were stolen.
  • The FBI previously examined the case as a possible hate crime, and three suspect sketches were released, though the sheriff now doubts their current usefulness.
  • Tips can be shared with the Maggie Long Task Force at 303-239-4243 or maggie.long.tips@state.co.us, and CBI reports nearly 500 have been received.
