• Chief Minister Omar Abdullah says he will ask the governor to dissolve the Jammu and Kashmir assembly and hold fresh elections immediately the day statehood is restored.
• He dismissed newspaper reports that statehood would come with conditions such as fresh assembly polls as scare tactics against lawmakers.
• NC president Farooq Abdullah insisted statehood is an inherent right of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and not a favour to any political party.

• The NC Working Committee unanimously adopted a resolution reaffirming its commitment to restore Jammu and Kashmir’s special status alongside full statehood without further delay.
