Overview

  • Oman confirmed a 17-man squad for its first Asia Cup, led by Jatinder Singh with Duleep Mendis as head coach, including uncapped Sufyan Yousuf, Zikriya Islam, Faisal Shah and Nadeem Khan.
  • The debutants will play Pakistan on September 12 in Dubai, UAE on September 15 in Abu Dhabi and India on September 19 in Abu Dhabi as part of Group A. India vs Pakistan is set for September 14 in Dubai after India’s sports ministry approved participation in multination tournaments while maintaining a bar on bilateral series.
  • The men’s T20 tournament features eight teams split into two groups, progresses to a Super Fours stage and concludes with a final in Dubai on September 28.
  • Pre-tournament rhetoric has grown, with Wasim Akram calling India favourites and urging discipline, Virender Sehwag backing Suryakumar Yadav’s side as World Cup prep, and Haris Rauf predicting Pakistan wins over India.
