Overview

• Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will address the General Assembly on the theme “The Commonwealth - A Global Partner.”
• Birla is set to chair a workshop on leveraging technology to strengthen democracy and close the digital divide.
• The delegation includes Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh, multiple MPs, and secretaries-general of both Houses, with 36 presiding officers and 16 secretaries from 24 state and UT legislatures also participating.
• Odisha Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy will join the 9th Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians Conference on October 7–8 and speak on strategies for gender-sensitive parliaments.
• Following the conference, Padhy plans a study tour to London (Oct 12–14), Zurich (Oct 14–16) and Paris (Oct 16–18), engaging with Indian missions and the Odia diaspora before returning on October 19.
