• Speaker Om Birla touched down in Brasilia on June 1 to lead India’s delegation at the 11th BRICS Parliamentary Forum scheduled for June 3-5.
• He is slated to speak on inter-parliamentary cooperation for responsible and inclusive artificial intelligence; he will also address reforming multilateral peace and security architecture.
• The Indian delegation features Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh; MP Surendra Singh Nagar; Lok Sabha MPs Vijay Baghel, Vivek Thakur, Shabari Byreddy; parliamentary secretaries Utpal Kumar Singh, P.C. Mody.
• Parliamentarians from 11 BRICS nations plus presiding officers from Belarus, Bolivia, Kazakhstan, Cuba, Nigeria, Malaysia, Thailand, Uganda, Uzbekistan will attend.
• Sessions will cover sub-themes such as new paths for economic development, global health, climate, sustainability; India will showcase its Sansad Bhashini AI tool.
