• Double Olympic gold medallist Rebecca Adlington announced through Instagram about her daughter Harper's stillbirth at 20 weeks of pregnancy, after a routine scan revealed no heartbeat.
• Adlington suffered in silence until she was ready to share the news, on account of appearing pregnant, and felt unable to answer people's questions individually about her pregnancy.
• Fellow Olympians, including Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill, Adam Peaty, and Greg Rutherford, along with sports presenter Gabby Logan, expressed their sympathy and support for Adlington.
• This tragic loss is Adlington's second miscarriage, following a previous miscarriage discovered during a 12-week scan in August 2022, for which she required emergency surgery and fought off sepsis.
• Adlington and her husband Andy Parsons, who have a son together, had announced their pregnancy only recently on October 1. Adlington also has a daughter from her previous marriage to Harry Needs.
