Olympic Skater Nikolaj Sørensen Investigated for Sexual Assault

Alleged incident from 2012 surfaces, victim claims fear of disbelief delayed her report.

Canadian Olympic figure skater Nikolaj Sørensen is under investigation by Canada's Office of the Sport Integrity (OSIC) for allegations of sexual assault made by an American figure skating coach and former skater.
The alleged incident took place on April 21, 2012, in a condominium in Hartford, Connecticut, when both the victim and Sørensen were in their early twenties.
The woman did not report the incident at the time due to fear of not being believed or being blamed, and the statute of limitations for filing a criminal complaint in Connecticut has since expired.
She filed her report on July 22, 2023, after reading an interview where Sørensen spoke about the need to ensure the safety of women in ice dancing.
Sørensen, now 34, is set to compete in the Canadian nationals and the world championships in Montreal with his ice dancing partner, Laurence Fournier Beaudry.
