Olympic Kite Surfer Rescues Drowning Woman Off Brazilian Coast

Bruno Lobo, Olympian and doctor, used his kite surfing gear to save a woman struggling in the ocean near São Luís, Brazil.

Bruno Lobo, a Brazilian Olympic kite surfer and orthopaedic doctor, rescued a drowning woman on January 10 while training off the coast of São Luís, Brazil.
The rescue was captured on video, which shows Lobo using his kite surfing equipment to bring the exhausted woman safely to shore.
Lobo credited God for positioning him to help and warned others about the dangers of strong ocean currents in unfamiliar waters.
The governor of Maranhão awarded Lobo a medal for his bravery, and World Sailing issued a statement commending his heroic actions.
Lobo, who competed in the 2024 Paris Olympics and is a two-time Pan American Games champion, emphasized he was simply doing what needed to be done.
