Lee's illness led to severe water retention, causing her entire body to swell and making it impossible for her to perform flips.
Despite the challenges, Lee has made dietary changes, reducing her sodium intake, and is working through her condition with the aim of competing in the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
Lee ended her gymnastics career at Auburn due to her illness, but returned to compete professionally in August, attending the 2023 Core Hydration Classic.
The Olympic trials for the 2024 Paris Games will begin in June in Minneapolis.
