Olympic Champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen’s Father to Face Trial for Alleged Abuse

Gjert Ingebrigtsen, former coach and father of Jakob, Henrik, and Filip Ingebrigtsen, denies charges of long-term physical and psychological abuse against his children.

Gjert Ingebrigtsen, father of Olympic gold medalist Jakob Ingebrigtsen, has been charged with abusing two of his children, including Jakob, over several years.
The allegations include physical violence such as punching, kicking, and prolonged assaults, as well as psychological abuse, according to testimony from Jakob and other family members.
The trial, set for 2025, is expected to last up to 30 days, with 30 to 40 witnesses anticipated to testify.
Jakob and his brothers, Henrik and Filip, publicly accused their father of abusive behavior in 2023, prompting a police investigation and their decision to end their coaching relationship with him.
Gjert Ingebrigtsen denies all allegations, maintaining that he has never subjected his children to physical or psychological harm.
