Olof Mellberg Named Head Coach of St. Louis City SC

The former Sweden captain and Aston Villa defender takes over after Bradley Carnell's dismissal earlier this year.

Olof Mellberg, 47, has been appointed as the second head coach of MLS club St. Louis City SC, pending visa approval.
He replaces Bradley Carnell, who was fired in July following a disappointing season for the team.
Mellberg brings coaching experience from Sweden and Denmark, including guiding IF Brommapojkarna to historic achievements in Sweden's top league.
Known for his leadership and focus on developing young talent, Mellberg also had a distinguished playing career with clubs like Aston Villa, Juventus, and Olympiacos, and earned 117 caps for Sweden.
Interim coach John Hackworth will remain with St. Louis City SC as technical director, supporting Mellberg in his new role.
