Olivia Rodrigo’s Daisy Chain Fields Faces Vendor Payment and Logistics Allegations

Unpaid vendor claims threaten the event’s $20 million fundraising story by raising questions about who managed vendors and who is responsible for payments

Overview

  • The one-day Daisy Chain Fields festival at Great Park on Aug. 29 featured an all-woman lineup and raised $10 million that was matched by Melinda French Gates to a reported $20 million for women’s and reproductive-rights groups.
  • On Oct. 7 several small food vendors publicly posted that they have not been paid and described poor planning, late or piecemeal setup information, long staff-vehicle distances and a hot, chaotic site that harmed sales.
  • Two named vendors, Ugly Oats Kitchen and Por Suerte, say a subcontractor handling food vendors imposed fines for running out of food and withheld sales payouts in ways they say violated their contracts.
  • CBC and other outlets have contacted Olivia Rodrigo’s team, producer C3 Presents and the subcontractors DLS Events and Jetty Event Productions for comment while Rodrigo has not issued a public response.
  • Organizers face reputational and possible legal exposure if payments are not resolved and vendors’ claims are verified, even as city leaders signal they are open to hosting the festival again next year.
