Old Bailey Hears Pattern-of-Abuse Case Against Ex-Met Officer David Carrick

Prosecutors presented a letter from his medical records said to contain an admission signed 'Dave'.

Overview

  • The trial opened on Tuesday with prosecutor Tom Little KC telling jurors the alleged offences form a long-running, predatory pattern.
  • Carrick is accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting a girl aged about 12 in 1989 and 1990, charges he denies.
  • He also pleads not guilty to two counts of rape, one sexual assault, and coercive and controlling behaviour against a woman between 2014 and 2019.
  • Jurors were told a note recovered from medical records states, "It was true," and is signed "Dave," which the prosecution says refers to the defendant.
  • Carrick previously admitted a large number of sexual and other offences in 2022–2023, served as an armed Met officer in the Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection unit, and is currently held at HMP Belmarsh.
