Ola Electric Launches ‘Ola Shakti’ Home Batteries, Opens Bookings for 2026 Delivery

Built on Ola’s in-house 4680 cells, the home battery line promises rapid scale using existing infrastructure without new capital.

Overview

  • Ola Shakti debuts as a residential battery energy storage system with four variants priced at ₹29,999, ₹55,999, ₹1,19,999 and ₹1,59,999.
  • Bookings open at ₹999 on Ola’s website and stores, with deliveries targeted around Makar Sankranti 2026.
  • The system runs on the 4680 ‘Bharat Cell’ from Ola’s Tamil Nadu Gigafactory, with the company projecting BESS demand of about 5 GWh in the next couple of years.
  • Software features include Time-of-Day charge and discharge scheduling, intelligent backup prioritisation, remote diagnostics and OTA updates, with Ola citing efficiency of up to 98% and IP67-rated batteries.
  • Shares rose to the upper circuit over two sessions after the launch, as analysts welcomed the opportunity but flagged execution risks tied to delayed EV rollouts, sliding e-scooter share and possible PLI penalties.
