OL Reign Advances to NWSL Semifinals with 1-0 Victory Over Angel City

Veronica Latsko scored the decisive goal in the 87th minute that advanced the OL Reign to the NWSL semifinals, beating Angel City FC with a 1-0 win.
The winning goal was a close-range header, fed by a cross from Phoebe McClernon, marking the Reign's first playoff victory since 2015.
The game was a defensive showdown, with the teams combining for just five shots in the first half - the fewest in any half of a postseason match in NWSL history.
Rose Lavelle, having been out with a knee injury since Sept. 3, made her return in the 64th minute. Moments before Latsko’s goal, Rose Lavelle forced Angel City’s goalie to deflect her shot from a distance.
This match marked Megan Rapinoe's final home game after 11 seasons with the Reign, she left the field to a standing ovation in extra time.
The Reign will play against the top-seeded San Diego Wave in the semifinals on Nov. 5, extending Megan Rapinoe's final season with the Reign.
